A client should have confidence that its construction firm will consistently meet or exceed its expectations. In our judgment, the three most important factors in establishing such confidence are (1) The Competence of the Management Team, (2) The firm’s relevant experience and (3) the resources available. The following points highlight the capacity of Banyan Group Construction, Inc., in these areas.

Project Team Competence – Banyan Group is a highly focused contracting firm, staffed with veteran professionals. Its President, George McGuire has successfully completed hundreds of construction projects. He has spent his entire career in the construction industry, and has a wide variety of experience in multiple types of construction buildings. A management team is selected for each project, based solely on the individual team members, field and office experience, with the specific type of project.

Relevant Industry Experience – The firm has extensive experience in retail, commercial, entertainment, restaurant and medical construction. Additionally, the firm has completed construction projects in related fields, such as, industrial, chemical, airport, and facility projects.

Available Resources – Banyan Groups comprehensive experience in varied commerce has allowed us to build an extensive list of resources from material to subcontractors. This experience allows us to provide a diversely profound ability during the design and construction phase.

Goals

Attaining on time, within budget building projects is a realistic and achievable goal, even when considering the complex construction environment and relatively unstable economic climate.

Banyan Group Construction, Inc. can successfully guide the interests of the client through the intricate and often expensive building process by managing and coordinating the overall development of the project.

Furthermore, Banyan Group can provide a data base of subcontractors and information supported by a region wide range of experience at the earliest possible stages of a project.  This ability can be the deciding factor in the efficient allocation of the owner’s time and budget.

An important element is the extent of our experience in the specific type of projects being planned and the state-of-the-art techniques necessarily required for the construction.  Banyan Group has demonstrated a track record in handling a variety of building types and can anticipate potential construction problems before they adversely affect the project.

Banyan Groups depth of knowledge in the local area, including labor, material, and the capabilities and competence of the local subcontractors is an absolute asset.  This asset can save the owner time and money, particularly in the pre-construction phase since it allows the contractor to construct a realistic timetable for early materials ordering and delivery and encourages the greatest degree of bidding competition among subcontractors.

Team Approach

Ideally, the earlier Banyan Group Construction, Inc. is hired, even before the architect, the better our position is to assess the impact of the many factors involved in the overall development of the building process.

In many cases, after Banyan Group has been chosen, the development of a team approach among owner, architect and contractor can commence as early as possible.

Each member of the team lends a highly specific skill to the process.  The Owner must determine how much capital is available to invest in the project.  Banyan Group and the Architect must translate the owner’s concepts into a functional, aesthetic design, and the Construction must forge the ideas into reality by orchestrating the physical elements into the desired results within time and budget limitations.

Estimating & Value Engineering

Inaccurate estimates that miss the mark by even a narrow margin can create substantial cost overruns.

During the estimating process, Banyan Group Construction, Inc. is able to prepare a budget for the owner, prior to the completion of the design.  The developmental budget is broken down into its various components, and the cost estimate is derived from data on similar projects.

An accurate estimate also depends on the availability of timely cost information concerning labor and materials.  This information allows Banyan Group to gather data for design materials and to hedge for future price increase by ordering materials at the earliest possible time.

The purchases of such large and long lead items as structural steel, pre-cast concrete and electrical gear must be made early to guarantee that critical items will be on site when required in the construction schedule in order to avoid delays.

As design progresses during the pre-construction stage, Banyan Group analyzes every element and at times, the owner can be presented alternative construction materials or systems, which meet original performances and design specifications, but provide a lower cost.  Ultimately, this “Value Engineering” process serves as a cost control function for the owner by allowing him to allocate his resources in a more cost-effective manner.

Fast Tracking

Today’s economic and business climate poses a true challenge to the team of owners, architects and general contractors, but also offers an opportunity for showing what a full-service contractor like Banyan Group Construction, Inc. can accomplish within the team framework.

With early involvement and implementation of the work timetable, estimating and budgeting, value engineering and fast tracking, Banyan Group is in a unique position to play a vital role for the prudent owner.

Banyan Group’s effective use of computer scheduling has proven particularly valuable in initiating the development of another coordinated construction process called, Fast Tracking.  Fast Tracking is a process, which overlaps phases of design and construction to compress the amount of time required to build a project.  This aids the owner in quickly realizing return on investment through early occupancy.  The use of Fast Tracking allows the construction process to begin upon completion of only preliminary design.  For instance, foundations can be placed while the design of the building exterior is being completed.  The exterior finish can be applied to the building structure while interior plans are contemplated.  This procedure can save significant time and money over conventional procedures.

Scheduling

Banyan Group Construction’s comprehensive timetable for the construction project is another critical element in saving time and money.  The schedule serves as a tool for monitoring current progress and planning for the future.  The schedule determines the sequence and duration of each construction task and the manpower required at every point in time.

Additionally, a schedule of cost incurred during the construction process can be developed, allowing the owner to organize his cash flow according to which payments must be made at what point in time.

The employment of computers in scheduling the construction process is widely practiced, and allows the arrangement of the construction program into a logical array of well-organized tasks.

Computer scheduling coordinates men and materials from floor to floor and area to area and reports what operation must be completed and within what time frame.
